The Peoples Garden is part of a national effort to get the United States in better shape by emphasizing the importance of healthy living.  The garden sits at the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry in Monroe.  Two acres make up the garden and every single piece of produce picked will be donated to various charities.

Garden boost for bushfire towns (The Age)

Recognising the importance of parkland, vegetable plots and streetscapes, the Australian Open Garden Scheme has donated $80,000 to rebuild or restore community-based gardens in bushfire-affected areas. Grants of up to $20,000 are available for each project.
